Work Rule: Calling On and Calling Off
Attn: Local 280 Members It has been brought to our attention that some employees are not adhering to the established work rule regarding calling on & off of work. Please be advised that Work Rule #8 states it is mandatory for all members on any work list, including those at satellite facilities or racetracks, to call on and off. 30-Minute Meal Breaks
The employers are following California law and our contract (CBA) regarding the 30-minute break period. This notice is just a clarification of a policy that has been in place for years. Under our current CBA, Local 280 members who waive the 30-minute meal break are given two 10-minutes breaks, which is more than the California law mandates. SEIU Pension Fund / Letter to Members
URGENT: Local 280 members who have reached the age of normal retirement (age 65), were mailed a letter from the SEIU Pension Fund during the month of January. This letter contains information regarding drawing your pension. Please be aware that all Union Locals have specific rules regarding working after retirement.
