Information for Permits - Joining Local 280

If you are a Permit worker who has completed at least 10 days of work during the last consecutive eighteen months, you are eligible to join Local 280.
After joining the Union, your hourly wages will go up significantly!
As a permit, you earn $19.23 / hour, and as a Union member you will start earning $24.60 / hour and can earn raises as you continue to work under our contract.
You will also start earning credits towards a pension. As a Union member, you will always be put to work ahead of Extras and permits.
You should forward a completed application, copies of all pay stubs, and a copy of your CHRB License to the Union office as soon as possible.
The next induction date will be September 1, 2026.
Inductions can be conducted over Zoom. We will contact you to set up a time for your induction.
$250.00 – Induction Fee
$263.00 – ½ Annual Dues
$20-60 – Permit fees - varies depending upon how many days worked as a permit in the past eighteen months.
Total Cost -- ranges from $533.00 to $580.00
Seniority Numbers are based upon the date & time that each inductee was issued his/her License by the CHRB.
