Local 280 Election - Nominations Information

Local 280 will be holding a nomination meeting for the upcoming Election in November of 2025. There will be three (3) Officer Positions: President/Business Agent, Vice-President/Northern Business Agent, and Secretary-Treasurer. There will be seven (7) Executive Board of Directors seats to be filled, along with Southern Sgt-at-Arms and Northern Sgt-at-Arms positions to be filled. The term of office will run for three (3) years beginning December 19, 2025.
Nominations for the Executive Board and Officers of Local 280 will take place (via Zoom):

Time: 1:00pm
Nominations may also be made in writing and must be received by Secretary-Treasurer, Shannon Hinkley by no later than 5:00 pm on October 15, 2025.
Deadline for nominees accepting candidate nominations:
(Thurs.) October 23, 2025, no later than 5:00 pm

Re: Letter of intent to be nominated
Current language:
Section 3. Nominees for any office in Local 280 may be nominated in person, by video zoom or by any other similar form of telecommunications provided by the Union. during the nomination meeting (see Appendix A for timeline) as well as by *filing a letter of intent at least a week in advance of the nomination meeting.
This section of our current Bylaws will be waived for this and all future elections. The language *(above in bold italic) as written in our Bylaws is not found in the DOL/OLMS regarding Union Elections (per Section 401 (c). According to the erroneous language, members would be ineligible to run for any position if they did not submit a letter of intent a week prior to the nomination meeting.
Per the DOL/OLMS: Deadline for receipt of written nominations should be received by the close of business of the day of the nomination meeting.
